Let's call him Mark. From Michigan. He was visiting the beach in Florida during an icy cold winter that never wanted to end, way north in Michigan. I happened to be planted on the beach with my easel and paints and a few painting friends. He was pretty enthralled at us all painting and kept coming around. He just "knew" we were painting him!
I finally asked him if he would like me to paint him in the scene. Of course he did! I asked him to go by the water. He did. He just stood there. Now, that was not very poetic like. Looked too much like a photograph. I told him to turn around and point at something. He did.
That is how I painted him. I added a woman that he later went and sat next to, whom I figured was his wife. He had to be showing somebody something, right? I will let that be to your imagination.
Figures in a painting draw you in. Maybe this was you? Just put your name on the person. The beach and water are full of surprises. Perhaps a dolphin, or a manatee, or a huge ship was dancing on the water...
This is a good sized painting with bright, honest colors. You will see it from across the room. Grab it fast!
